If the day dawned, our little group didn’t see it through the blowing snow and murk as we trudged across Frigost’s frozen wastelands, tripping over small woodland creatures who were more likely to want to take your leg off as scamper out of the way.

Each hillock we rounded, every time we threaded through a stand of trees, each tiny trail that petered off into a sheet of ice .. each one gave us a taste of Mother Nature at her worst. Nasty creatures and worse weather hampered our journey to the fabled Dungeons of Frigost.

b-(~.~d-)

If your journey has ground to an frozen halt, perhaps what you need is some heat for back up. Check out Thesenuts’ Frigost April 2012 post in Contest and Events. Let him know what’s next on your list for the beatdown. Let’s get through this together!

Since my last post, our guild has grown by leaps, adding Derriere, Wildmustang, Swift-fox, Shunknown, Sacfire, Chebsor and Fluffy, AkibaCheeba, Ibluff, Fault-zone and Shawsheen. A huge, warm welcome to you all.

Another reason to raise a glass … Shawsheen and Thesenuts have reached the ultimate level and their final character aura .. congrats on 200, guys. Luckybaub, a speedy li’l devil for an old man, has reached the 150 mark. Well done!

Anyway, he’s running into technical snags when trying to bring our boards into some semblance of updated and may have caused us to lose imaging capabilities for capcha, which is preventing people from registering.

Helping us clean up our site remains very high on his list of downtime activities, but we will need to excercise patience for a while longer.

Those of you new to guild who’d like to see the gold that is here .. its worth the wait. Promise.

Girlfat threw open the guildhouse door and Kelar stepped inside. ”The place could use a bit of sprucing up,” she voiced. ”This couch needs replaced, the walls need new paint and yes, a new color scheme would be good. Maybe something in green with white accents. And oh yes, the place needs a couple of special additions … a wine cooler and a white puppy.”

And so the Spacemanspliff family has moved right into the Superlative Examplar guildhall. Kelar is happily plumping cushions while Girlfat plays with the puppy. When they’re not knocking off would-be kolosium champions, that is.

We’ve seen a batch of shiny old faces this week with the return of some much loved members. A big welcome home party for Shovel-fail, Kaamra and Big-heart is planned for Friday at Otomai. Bring your beach towels!

The streets of Amakna … if you could rightly call them streets in a town of loosely packed houses and temples … were littered with trash leftover from a party weekend gone totally out of control. Jelly smears washed across the houses, mixed in with trool drool. It was going to take someone with no sense of smell to come down here to clean up this mess. Fortunately, that wasn’t me .. I was here to meet our newest recruits and give them the company line. I sat back, watching the square for our new folks and admired the handiwork of some hero who’d left a boowolf head atop each of the plinths. That took creativity.

A shadow fell on me and I looked up to see Incognito and his girlfriend Tal. They’d dressed formally for the occasion, new gobball sets still glowing from the cleaning they get before going to market stalls. I lifted an eyebrow and they gave me the fish eye. We’d got off to a good start. The pair would make a great team .. Iop and Eniripsa. I stood, shook their hands and gave them a welcome before sending them off to dirty up their new finery.

A cough behind me alerted me to Crit-Pants, the cra who’s also Kilntyme’s son. Fast to chat up the ladies, he’d be equally fast on the battlefield, I could tell. I gave him a look at my eyebrow too. He returned the sally with a boyish grin.

Just then, Teac wandered over and punched Crit-pants in the shoulder. ”Leave the dazzle for the ladies down in Brakmar’s red light district,” he directed around a pretty large grin of his own. He reached over to shake my hand and I noticed the tattoo on his forearm. I pointed at it with my chin. ”There a story to tell about that?” I asked. ”Just a club” he responded, but I knew I’d seen the mark before. I’d get the story out of him over Bwork beers some night.

We had a few reasons to hoist a tankard lately … Erfoc marked level 150 and LuckyBaub hit 100. We’d found Baub wandering, dazed and confused, in the Incarnum daisy fields one night and welcomed him back in to the guild. His memory is slowly returning, but he does seem to spend a lot of time searching for ghosts, so perhaps professional help is in order.

Another old friend, El-Queyle, stumbled across me one night at the Amakna town zaap while he was on his way to the kolosium. B movie script plot right there, folks. Don’t thank me, you can’t make this shit up. Said B movie would very likely star a sram, dontcha think?. EQ becomes the only skeletal member in the SE closet. Not to say that EQ is in the closet, but that could certainly be an added twist for the B movie. *runs off to jot down possible scenarios*

And that’s our coffee break! Stay tuned next time as we track down old Joint Task Force members.

The plantation fan overhead rotated lazily and mostly ineffectively, occasionally trying hard to muster enough energy to riffle the corner of the newspaper I was reading. The heat on this island was as oppressive as the jungle was dangerous. Otomai in the summer can be lovely, splashing in the waves once you clear the beaches of coral and shoo the crabs away. The heat can also slam you down into a hammock on your veranda and keep you there, drowsily wishing for a cocktail to appear in the hand of someone whose only desire was to fulfil all your wishes.

And yet, lazing away the afternoon wasn’t on my agenda today. My kit sat on a chair as I perused the paper, waiting for the local taxi to trundle up. I’d packed the night before and had read up on the new mission. If I was a betting person, I’d bank on bloodshed being spilled before night’s end. Despite this being a select, highly-trained and adaptable crew .. shit could get real. Skeunk wasn’t famous for giving away over his dofuses like so many hotel lotions. Polite wasn’t a concept that he knew, although legend said he could occasionally be generous to those who bested him. We were about to make the attempt. God have mercy on our souls.

——————————-

This week saw ShadowDancer make an appearance and the return of Ferrahballah who was excitedly dashing around investigating old haunts. We said a fond farewell to Sunburn who returns to school and promises to visit our forums. Give her some stuff to visit. Let’s see some action on the boards!

Congratulations are in order for two of our members, Fish-Stick and Oralind. Fishie and Ora have reached the 150 mile marker. Sooo … time to hand over the keys to the executive washroom, Intuo.

The old guy hobbled into view slowly, stopping briefly to adjust himself as old men sometimes do when they’ve lost their sense of public propriety, then continued on down the street. As he neared the patio where I was taking in the sunshine and a bit of people watching along with my morning tea, I could hear that he was humming to himself. He looked up and at me, waved his cane and nearly toppled over. I repressed a chuckle, but I did give him bright smile. He took that as a cue to introduce himself. Erfoc he said he was looking for the SE guild hall, then pulled out a small flask from a rather cavernous pocket. He winked and waved it in my direction with a questioning look. Natrually, I accepted. The drink was smooth and well aged … like my new friend. Welcome to SE, Erfoc.

In other news, we’ve dungeoned with Intuo and Wikeon this week and Hailwing dropped by to bestow gifts on various folks. Both myself and Fish-stick have acquired full Soft Oak sets with the help of many generous guild members. Blocking Oralind’s shot has been elevated to a guild sport, Peique continues to menace the denizens of Kwismas Taiga and Fish-stick has been elevated to Proctector status.

The gusty little zephyrs played tag around the evergreens on Kwismas Island, sending sprays of glitter everywhere and chilling the cheeks of the heroic adventures making their way to the Superlative Exemplar guild hall. Inside, steam rose off the kettle of kittenfish burbling away on a back burner. Cups of hot cocoa were set out for the new recruits to wrap their frozen fingers around.

Muha began introductions, blushed as Cryptical leaned over to whisper in her ear, but continued on …

Cryptical wasn’t sporting the usual poker face for a cool cat. At 192, he looks to be a fierce opponent with the tip of one ear broken and displaying a motley assortment of scars, yet his eyes gave him away, fairly glowing as he followed Muha’s every move.

KilnTyme, Cryptical’s brother, unslung his quiver of arrows and hung them up on a peg beside the door for easy access on the way out. There looked to be some special arrowheads poking out of the leather case .. our level 162 cra will bear close watching.

Hellz-Wolfe‘s battered quiver went up beside it, looking much rougher. He winked at us, asked if there was a bwork beer handy, slung a leg over a kitchen chair and took a long draw from the mug before checking around to see if he knew any of us from his kollosium exploits.

-TheNox- paused in the doorway, a bit uncertain of the welcome in a roomful of white wings. Wikeon’s eye lit up, however; having a new brother of the red order will mean a lot, and the two of them were quickly chatting happily about inns and brothels of Brakmar. Closing in on the end levels in the game, TheNox is a friendly sort of fellow, willing to lend a hand wherever, especially if it involves a Brakmarian brothel.

Pharos was almost easy to overlook in the crowd of tall folk. A quiet type .. unusual for the highly exuberant eneripsa race, our 112 healer looks like he’s seen a few hard roads. He’s recently returned, like myself, from a long, lonnnnnnnnnnnng Dofus vacation. Having discovered the icelands of Frigost, we’ll be sure to find him there hunting down bounties. Mastoslob, watch your back.

Makster grinned at us and when he spoke, the venerable enutrof had a Texas twang. Quick with wit, Makster describes himself as “older than dirt.” Our crazy Makster has been promised riches and nubile women for joining the guild. By Crayon, who looks to be making a return, if only he can find his password. I’ll bet he wrote it on a wall someplace and someone came along behind him to clean up.

And finally, there’s me, Oralind. Some of you will may remember me from the beginning of the guild. I arrived just after our first GM left to play Guild Wars, when the legendary Gloves, Kyek, Selesa, dWeeblet were still here. In my five-year absence, I’ve forgotten a LOT of things, so I’ll ask your patience in answering questions that every level 35 toon knows. For those that don’t know me, I speak Canadian with a British Columbian accent.

If you weren’t in the guildhall when introductions were made, please give all our newcomers a warm SE welcome!
