The History:

Superlative Exemplar, an example of only the finest players in the land of Amakna, naturally has a history like no other. It started out with 2 groups of friends, both relatively strangers, but similar in one respect – both groups wanted to create a guild of fun-loving, adventurous and good natured people; a guild they could all call home, a safe haven of goodness in a land of madness.

Sadly, I am the only one left out of the original ten, and a poor story teller am I. I am an old woman now, this all began 4 levels, 1 reroll, then 60 levels ago. Therefore, please forgive my foggy and spider webbed memory as I trudge wearily through this rusty tale. Determined I shall do my best for SE, as the current members of SE deserve to know how it all began.

Let me begin by taking you back, way back, to the good old days back in the newb-hood, which was and still is known as ASTRUB. The days when, 8 level 12s ran 15 maps in answer to, “/p OMG found a Tree!!” The good old days of Sandals of Intelligence, Little Bear Amulets and Powerful Belts of Vitality. Back when if you had 10kk to your name, you were considered RICH. The days when half your friends were barefooted and the other half couldn’t find a hat. The days of Blue Cloaks and the quest to kill the fat lady and collect the 2kk bounty. Yes folks, I say the good old days, when everyone misplaced their boost points, misplaced their stat points and had no more than 75 hp. Those days. That’s where it all began.

The first group of friends I can speak of clearly as it was the group of friends that I ran with before ever meeting Dalamb, and forming SE. These ancient players are a key element in the creation of this mighty guild as I do believe they set the tone for the environment SE became and still is to this very day despite their long and mournful absence. Therefore before telling you about the actual birth of SE, I will speak of the people who felt the labor pains.

Let me first begin where all things begin when there is no danger and that is with Ladies first. Sit back and listen as I recount the character of my long lost friend: Angrboda. She was 25 years old in the real world, lived in one of our southern states. She was and undoubtedly still is, a true gamer, previously involved in such fantasy worlds as World of WarCraft and Final Fantasy Online. She was a self-depricating student and worked for a bookstore, a self-proclaimed nerd and a lover of long novels having to do with fantasy, romance or reality. In the life that I knew her, she had chosen to be a sacrier, and a mighty sacrier was she – the first of us to discover the secret of a Sacrier’s success: Boost Vitality and only vitality. It was Angrboda who convinced Spliffs to reroll his character. It was Angrboda who first discovered the ease and benefits of farming and baking. It was Angrboda who became the first pay to play player out of all of us in order to find Rye for her farming. I can still recall the stories she would tell us that eventually convinced us to become pay to play: “I just spoke with a squirrel..” “Omg there are squirrels!? How did you speak to it, what did it say!?” “Yes, there are squirrels out here, I discovered a scroll to learn their language and now they communicate with me. I’ll not tell you what they say, as you must find out for yourself.” Yes folks, Angrboda was our pioneer, our adventurer, our foreward moving leader in all things including our credit card payments to the Dofus Gods and our discovery of Amakna forest – the source of all the trees one could ever dream.

After Angrboda naturally I shall follow with Thrax (who eventually rerolled as Prax), her constant companion. He was a quiet sort of player, he mainly enjoyed to whisper Angrboda constantly and she undoubtedly kept him thoroughly engaged as the man never grew bored of her. They had known eachother in previous lives, in WoW and FFO, therefore there was a bond there easily recognized by anyone watching. He was an Osa, his only dream was to aquire the elusive Omellete Amulet and summon tofu’s until he had a veritable army. He was a good-natured player, very kind in all of his dealings with our group and generous with what he had. He was reliable in every way – you just knew that if he was online, you would soon see him in your blue chat fighting alongside you against any enemy. His contribution to our group was one of Stability, politeness and skill.
